Entertaining children isn’t always easy – especially 4-year-olds. If my preschooler had his way, he’d watch TV all day. So, I’m constantly looking for screen-free toys that will keep him entertained and exercise his imagination. Easier said than done. That is until I found Toniebox, a screen-free toy for kids ages 3 and up that uses storytelling and sing-along songs to keep them occupied. And my son is obsessed. Best of all, you can buy it for $30 less during Amazon’s Big Spring Sale from now until the 25th.

How the Toniebox works is simple – you connect it to your WiFi network and set it up through the app. Then you get your own “Tonies” which are characters that each have their own set of stories and/or songs, and can be Disney characters, characters from beloved books, educational figures, and more (purchased separately). Place Tony on the box and it starts playing instantly (it’s like a CD, with a set list of what’s on it), and kids can easily switch between tracks by pressing the side of the box. It is very easy to operate, and children can use it independently on their own. The battery lasts for 7 hours, so children can carry it throughout the day.

Once my son started playing with the Toniebox, his TV watching diminished. He loves playing stories and playing with his toys while he listens. Sometimes we bring the box into the kitchen while eating or listen to it while sleeping. Now all he does is talk about the Tonys he wants for Christmas – making this year’s gift-giving simple. Just get more tones.

There is just one word of caution I have for caregivers. Setup takes about 10 minutes, so you may want to do this before handing the Toniebox to your child. My preschooler was so impatient (and excited), that he kept picking up directions and setting it up took a little longer than expected.

So, keep scrolling and check out the screen-free game my son was obsessed with. The price has dropped from $99 to $69 for the rest of Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, so don’t wait. Your little one might like it too.
