Lenovo’s Project Crystal laptop looks like a Star Trek prop

Lenovo Project Crystal is definitely a sci-fi technology come to life. Currently, there are no plans to turn the prototype laptop into a retail product. Until now. Instead, it tasked its ThinkPad division with exploring the potential of transparent microLED panels and AI integration.

The most obvious use for a transparent laptop screen is to share information in a doctor’s office or hotel office. Instead of having to flip the screen, you can simply mirror the device’s output via the software. According to Sam Rutherford, the transparency effect is puzzling. When closed or turned off, the Project Crystal Display looks almost like a regular, brown-tinted piece of glass. But at any moment, everything lights up like a battleship. NVIDIA RTX 500 and 1000 Ada GPUs bring more AI to thin and light laptops

NVIDIA has unveiled its latest laptop GPUs, and what a surprise, they’re largely intended to aid AI processing. The RTX 500 and 1000 Ada Generation graphics cards are primarily intended for thin and light laptops. While it won’t offer the same amount of TOPS AI performance as current high-end mobile GPUs, it could be useful for on-the-go AI processing for researchers, content creators, and video editors. These are workstation GPUs, so they are not suitable for your gaming requirements. The company says the GPUs, built on the Ada Lovelace architecture, deliver up to twice the ray tracing performance of previous-generation GPUs (they use third-generation ray tracing cores). Meanwhile, 4th generation Tensor Cores deliver up to twice the throughput of previous GPUs.

Landscape technology company Husqvarna has just announced that the game will work on some of its robotic lawnmowers. So you can mow the lawn and… the lawn. The game is played using the on-board lawnmower display. Rotating the control knob turns your character left and right, and pressing the knob makes you shoot. Holding down the start button starts forward movement.
