Instagram finally lets you edit direct messages

[ad_1]

Instagram launched direct messaging tools in 2013, but there was no way to modify them after that. This is changing today. Meta has just released an update to the Instagram app software With one major caveat. You only have 15 minutes to make any changes.

Here’s how it works. Once you’ve sent a direct message and realize you’ve made a huge mistake, like “accidentally” declaring your love to an old college friend, simply tap and hold on the sent message. This will create a drop-down list. Find “Edit” and make the required changes. No one will ever be the wiser, as long as you get there within 15 minutes.

This isn’t the only change to direct messages found in today’s update. You can also pin up to three of your favorite direct messages to the top of the feed, which is useful in case of ongoing conversations. This can be done through individual chats and standard group chats. Simply hold down the Chat tab, look for the drop-down menu, and then tap “Install” to do this.

The update also makes it easier to toggle read receipts on and off, depending on personal preference. The rest of the new features today are cosmetic. There are new DM themes, some of which include unique animations. Finally, the update features a way to save your favorite stickers in your direct messages for easy access. Just grab the sticker and it will be there the next time you need it.

Meta is constantly making changes to Instagram. Last January, it began testing a feature that allows users to see only close friends. Late last year, the application was acquired
