Although, that doesn’t mean the royals and their team aren’t doing their best to explain the incident.

The original photo, which was shared to William’s official social media accounts, showed Kate with their children in honor of Mother’s Day in the UK, and served as the princess’s first official photo since undergoing abdominal surgery in January.

However, hours later, agencies pulled it from their databases and issued “takedown notices,” or advisories to editors and clients to remove the image or not use it.

“The Associated Press initially published the photo released by Kensington Palace,” the news agency said in a statement to NBC News. “The AP later retracted the photo because upon closer inspection, the source appears to have manipulated the photo in a way that does not meet AP photo standards. The photo shows an asymmetry in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand.”

H! News has contacted Kensington Palace for comment but has not received a response.
