John Morgan is the owner Queen City Charlotte Pimento Cheese Royale, a family-owned business located in Charlotte, North Carolina that produces packaged pimento cheese in various flavors. The company launched in 2014, shortly after Morgan appeared on Jeopardy! In January 2013.
Morgan was an elementary school teacher at the time, and had the most money of the three contestants who entered the Final Jeopardy round. But he missed the last question and had to take second place. Fortunately, the $2,000 awarded to the second-place contestant was still enough to cover the cost of a new blender he needed to start his dream pimento cheese business.
The gains provided only one piece of the puzzle, of course. Morgan already had the idea and many other working elements in place. In fact, he mentioned his winnings plan when he auditioned for the popular game show.
