After a table-setting introduction, the main story picks up two years later as we are once again introduced to the Spenglers, who not only now live in New York City, but are actually established as the Ghostbusters. Along the way, questions like how they got there and what they’re doing are answered, but fans of the previous film may be curious about what happened between them.
“As writers we made the crucial decision to jump forward two years.” Frozen Empire co-writer and director Gil Keenan told io9. “We actually had a shot that we thought about doing at the end hereafter, They were never shot, and the photo showed the Subaru family driving down the interstate outside Oklahoma, with a towed vehicle covered in a tarp behind it. And this fabric was flapping and you see kind of Ecto-1 behind it. But then, of course, we shot that beautiful ending with Ernie Hudson’s character Winston Zeddemore bringing Ecto-1 into the firehouse. That was our way of linking it to the events that Frozen Empire “He was about to go in.”

“We wrote story sketches of what happened in those intervening years,” Kenan said. “Early on, Jason and I decided that those stories wouldn’t be essential to the story we were telling Frozen Empire But it was interesting. “We definitely wanted to establish the idea of searching for a home for our new characters, the Spenglers,” Keenan said. “This research began with their removal at the beginning hereafter And the idea that maybe this farm could be a way to solve a problem, a practical problem for Callie, where are we going to put this family that’s looking for something to cling to? Some sense of permanence. We’ve already kind of started the process of developing that theme, thinking about that [original Ghostbusters] The firehouse as a potential target for this family would solve a problem they needed to solve and needed to solve. Something to anchor it in the same way Ghostbusters Fans were clamoring for a return to the firehouse.
