As the name “D” at WWDC suggests, the event focuses largely on developers of Apple’s various operating systems. The event, held recently at the Steve Jobs Theater on the company’s Cupertino campus, includes several days of panels and workshops focused on different ecosystems. This event also serves as a launching pad for the mentioned ecosystems. Expect big announcements around iOS, iPadOS 18, MacOS 15, WatchOS 11, and more.

Considering how this year’s show will mark the one-year anniversary of the Vision Pro’s announcement, I expect there will be a lot of new developers around the headset and its VisionOS operating system. Apple Silicon updates, and perhaps new Macs, also seem very likely.

But Apple’s AI plans will almost certainly take center stage at the show this time around. In response to questions about the company’s plans to catch up with generative AI offerings from top competitors like Microsoft and Google in its latest earnings call, CEO Tim Cook promised “groundbreaking innovation” set to be announced later this year.
