NYT “Connections” embraced April Fools’ Day with emojis

People who shot The New York Times’ Daily puzzle Links On Monday they were greeted with a big surprise. There were emojis where there should have been words. This, of course, is part of the April Fool’s Day fun from the New York Times gaming editors.

Links They usually contain 16 words in small boxes. Players place the words in groups of four and hopefully notice the common theme between the words. So it was a big surprise to see emojis first thing on Monday.

People online were quick to complain, most of them making exaggerated jokes. It was fun to see people react to this little development.

Other people online expressed that they liked the April Fool’s puzzle or at least enjoyed the change of pace.

If the emoji version of the game blows your mind, don’t worry, Mashable has hints (and even answers) for you. Not to brag, but I came up with the perfect solution myself – just don’t ask how long it took.
