Here comes the spoiler: Today’s Wordle’s answer is LOUSE, which is the unique version of lice, those scary little parasites that sometimes live on humans. It can also be a derogatory term for an unpleasant person. That’s where we get the word “lousy” for something bad. This answer may have fooled some players. If you don’t know the first letter, but you fill in the rest with -OUSE, you might have guessed MOUSE, HOUSE, or even DOUSE.

Daily Wordle Tips
I’ve written a lot about Wordle—from covering the umpteenth word to my list of the best starter words to a helpful two-step strategy to news about controversial word changes. I’ve even compiled what I’ve learned from playing the hit online word puzzle game for an entire year. So, if you’re rethinking your need for an actual answer, you can try the tips from one of these stories.
Still need a starter word? One person told me that they look around and choose a five-letter object they noticed to use as a starting word – like COUCH or CHAIR. I tend to stick with prefixed words that contain the most common letters used in English words. I like TRAIN for starters, although I have a friend who uses TRAIL. I’ve read that people Use the financial term ROATEBut I like to use words I already know.
What is Wordle?
If you’ve read this far, you know how to play. You have six chances to guess a five-letter word, and the game gives you feedback on whether or not the letters you guessed are in the puzzle, and whether they are in the same place you guessed them. The New York Times bought the game from creator Josh Wardell for seven figures in 2022. Wardell famously created the game for his partner, allowing her to narrow down the 12,000 five-letter words in the English language to just 2,500, creating a database For answers. . It was also convenient that he had a name that played on the word ‘word’.
A Times spokesperson told me it lists the first word that appeared on June 19, 2021, and the newspaper celebrated the game’s 1,000th word on March 15. SPOILER: That 1,000th word was ERUPT. As in “My father will explode if Wordle is so cruel that he loses his streak.”
There are other fun games in the Times Games collection. My latest addiction is Connections, which I think is harder than Wordle. This is a game where you look at a grid of 16 words and try to put them into four groups of related words. Sometimes the relationships between words are beautiful — like the time when four words all started with rock bands, like “Rushmore” and “journeyman.” (Communications got a little bold on April Fools’ Day with an all-emoji puzzle. Some players didn’t find this funny.)
