On their show on Friday (April 13), the musical duo paid tribute to OJ – born Orenthal James Simpson – and discussed their relationship with the infamous character. “Stat Baby” Wilson began the conversation by saying: “It’s a very sad day.”

On April 11, OJ’s family announced that he had died of cancer the previous day. He was 76 years old.

Mase and Cam’ron share their thoughts on OJ’s death

May said it was “At a loss for words.” Additionally, he shared that it doesn’t look real.

The 48-year-old said: “For me, it’s a real surreal moment because I was definitely looking forward to OJ next season.”

He completed, “I had a lot of great ideas talking about it with Cam earlier in the year about other shows we were going to do with OJ Simpson, so this is a really emotional moment for me.”

Massey was clearly upset by the news. Additionally, he took time to compose himself.

“He’s been around the world,” the rapper said. “I need a moment to get all my thoughts together but I have a lot to share and I want to make sure it comes from the right place. Stop.”

Cam took the reins and shared that he had a great time collaborating with the former football pro.

He said, “I just want to say it was great working with OJ.”

“We will really miss him and I loved him like a real uncle, so I’m really sorry about what happened. At the end of the day, I’m glad we were able to spend the last few months with him.” Cam added.

Cam defended their choice to have OJ on the podcast

Ma$e and Cam faced backlash over OJ’s presence on the show. The Heisman Trophy winner was put on trial in 1995 for the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her boyfriend, Ron Goldman.

In December 2023, the Harlem lyricist stated, “Look, if he’s guilty, we won’t have him on the show.” Cam continued:“You all want to continue convicting an innocent man.”
