Journalists, creatives, and VCs on X now enables verified organizations and Premium+ subscribers “Articles.”
The feature adds a basic text editing interface that includes embedded arguments and some text formatting options, such as the ability to create bulleted lists. It also appears that posts can be longer than the 25,000 character limit currently in place for the Longer Posts feature for premium subscribers. According to my initial tests, I reached the character limit for articles of just over 100,000 characters, or about 15,000 words.

It is worth noting that Twitter began working on longer posts long before Elon Musk acquired the company. The company offered an early version, originally called “Notes,” as it looked to attract newsletter writers and other creatives to the service. Musk confirmed that the deployment tools are still in the works.
The rollout of publishing tools is notable because Musk has often been hostile toward journalists on his platform. Last year, Musk directed a change in X’s recommendation algorithm so that links to newsletter platform Substack would be used in users’ “For You” feeds, narrowing many freelance writers’ access to the service. Also X of news stories shared on the platform last fall (the headlines eventually returned in a much smaller font).
