University of South Florida launches college of artificial intelligence

The University of South Florida announced Thursday that it will launch a college focused on artificial intelligence.

There is certainly some good work going on but we also want to expand collaboration with universities outside of Florida through federal agency grants.

The University of South Florida plans to create a physical headquarters for the college, but in the meantime it will be housed within the Department of Computer Science Programming. The university plans to spend a “significant” amount on recruiting new faculty, with an initial focus on 15 to 20 professors.

There are several initiatives at Florida universities focused on promoting artificial intelligence, including the University of Florida’s Center for AI Academic Initiatives, Which launched In March 2022.
