The Gemini Nano will also power Gboard’s smart reply suite. This software suggests responses to messages and is also aware of the context of conversations. It started as a WhatsApp exclusive but has recently expanded to include Line and KakaoTalk. Google promises that “more messaging apps” will add support in the coming months. Oddly enough, Google Messages is not an early adopter of this platform. The Gemini Nano is used to power the on-device Magic Compose feature in Messages on the Pixel 8 Pro and Samsung S24, but Google hasn’t announced whether that specific tool will be coming to the standard Pixel 8.
