Tamagotchi Uni is finally complete after its biggest update yet

[ad_1]

since then Tamagotchi uni It became available globally last summer, and it appears to be a product with a lot of unrealized potential.

Keep in mind that I say this as someone who loves this device and has used it daily since its launch. But on top of all the basic activities one would expect at this point in a digital pet game, the Wi-Fi-capable Tamagotchi Uni promised users a “Tamaverse” — a virtual playground that would expand the Tamagotchi experience like never before. So far, that hasn’t really happened.

Sure, players can send their characters there to “meet” others, go on mini-vacations and buy clothes, but those little activities don’t add much substance. The “Travel” experience involves watching a short animation, and sometimes receiving a special food dish, item, or achievement badge. Even the socializing aspect was very limited, allowing players to send only one heart (“like” to acknowledge another player’s Tamagotchi character) per day.

The Tamaverse has been slow to live up to the expectations set by Bandai, despite it being Uni’s biggest selling point. This seems to be changing in a big way.

With the update released on March 19 – version 1.6.0 – Bandai has opened the Tama Gate, an area in the Tamaverse that has been cordoned off all this time. A few days later, it dropped the first of two DLC packs for Tamagotchi Uni in the form of “Tamaverse Tickets,” which allow users to travel to new locations through that portal. In an additional non-Tamaverse move, the update also answers players’ desperate calls for more item storage by adding “My Box,” where surplus items can be stored so you no longer need to delete old goodies to make room for new ones. .

The first two Tamaverse Passes, as the DLC is called, are available now. One, which takes you to Very berry landfree, while the other, for Love Milo PartyIt costs $6. Each new area comes with a slew of additional characters you can raise (including some completely new to the franchise), a themed mini-game and a shop containing new foods, items, accessories and furniture you can purchase with Gotchi Points.

This is the kind of depth that virtual space always seems to suggest. Now it feels like we’re finally seeing what the Tamaverse can truly be. Hopefully this is just the beginning.

There will undoubtedly be some who balk at having to pay for DLC beyond a single freebie, and while I can’t say I’d blame them for that, it doesn’t bother me for what we get. Purchasing a ticket gives you access to a download code that can be used three times. Once the code is registered on the device, you can visit this site as much as you want, and switch freely between different sites you have downloaded. This meant that I was able to use the same codes to download Very Berry Land and LoveMelo Concert on both Tamagotchi Uni devices, and still have one usage left over for each ticket in case I had to reset.

As was the case with the Tamagotchi Smart’s DLC, physical content Tamasma cardsOnly one Tamaverse Ticket can be activated at a time, so switching will clear any location-specific items or food in your inventory, but you won’t need to re-enter the code to switch again. All locations downloaded by someone can be found in a new list called DL Area when visiting the Tama Portal.

It’s not just one or two characters that come with each site; six. Some people buy whole new hardware for this kind of expansion (certainly not me… haha…). And the free Very Berry Land brings back the adorable fan-favorite strawberry, Ichigotchi, which sounds like a win-win for everyone.

The DLC also reintroduces the method of obtaining specific characters by feeding young Tamagotchi certain meals or playing with a certain item three times before they reach adulthood. I was excited to try to get the new character, Tanghulutchi, that comes with Very Berry Land, and fed my teenage daughter Tama an abundance of Fruit Candy snacks in hopes that she would show up. It worked! (I am now also defending TRUE The candied fruit treat of the same name, Tangolo. Thanks Bandai).

Once he was strong enough to let go Mimichi On my other device, which is running LoveMelo Concert, I’ll probably try to get Drumcrubitchi, a new character that’s a drum kit with a face.

All the things you can buy at Tama Portal locations are so far much cheaper than Tama Mall’s usual offerings, with furniture and accessories ranging in price from 200 to 500 Gotchi points. It’s really nice to have some new mini-games to freshen up the daily routine, since there aren’t many of them built into the device when it’s offline, and the games they added to the early Tamaverse locations are great.

In the game Very Berry Land, you can play Cake factory, where you have to move your character to place strawberries on top of the cake slices as they go down the conveyor belt. It’s a style of play we’ve seen before, but it’s a little more exciting than other similar versions because the pace really picks up in the second half of the round.

It’s actually quite difficult, and the kind of game I’d have to obsessively reconsider until I mastered it. Nyano dance It’s obviously been well received, and I’m sure a lot of fans will be happy that a version of it has somehow found a permanent home at Uni.

One of the best things about previous versions of modern Tamagotchi, like Tamagotchi On, was the joy of discovery when you unlocked a new location. The new Tama Portal destinations have the same feel, and I can only hope that Bandai continues to go beyond the additional expansions they teased with patch 1.6.0.

Advertisement materials indicated at least three more DLs were on the way, including Tamamori fashion show It is scheduled to drop at the end of May. This world offers some completely unbalanced Tamagotchi character designs — like a pair of anthropomorphic work boots named, I’m not kidding, Bootsbrothers — and I really can’t wait. The other areas have not yet been revealed.
