At the First Hellfire Ceremony, after the mutant race had reconstituted a second mutant nation-state on the living island of Krakoa, the Scarlet Witch did a masterful job of securing her own place in the island’s newfound mutant circle behind the Resurrection Protocols: the mutant’s own method for cheating death. She did this by… Ok, she kills herself.
With Wanda’s revival at the hands of the Five, she is now able to cast extensive magical rituals, culminating in the creation of a pocket-dimensional limbo that he simply calls the “Antechamber.” The world was a space between life and death itself, a means for Cerebro to scan across all time and space and resurrect mutants who were not already backed up in their own archives. Overnight, the queues of resurrected mutants were filled with millions of souls, now waiting in their Elysian field – including those slaughtered in the Genoshan Genocide, and those killed during the Doom.
Genosha also received a second legacy during the Krakoan Era as a seed for the ancient mutant civilization known as the Threshold. Using genetic material collected from the Genoshan dead, Kitty Pryde and the Marauders sent a secret box full of biological data back two billion years ago, paving the way for the birth of the first mutant society – part of a cyclical time paradox, where Genosha fell. It would provide the spark for the earliest mutant life forms in the first place.
